Shop local first
Support your local provider whenever you can, and save the national giants for where they're genuinely the only option. When you choose local, your money stays in your community.
Why shop local first
When you choose a local or regional provider, your money stays in your community — funding local jobs, local businesses, and the people who live and work in the same places they serve. Local and regional providers also usually beat the national giants on the two things that matter most day to day: lower latency and real, reachable support.
Internet: check who covers your address before you buy a dish
Satellite internet like Starlink is a great option where it's genuinely the only reliable choice — but it's often not your only choice. Before you buy a dish, check who already covers your address: the WISPA "Find a WISP" directory, the FCC Broadband Map, or a quick search for your county plus "internet providers." In our areas, local fiber and fixed-wireless are available now:
- On-Ramp Indiana — local fiber and fixed-wireless internet across central Indiana.
- ETHX — local fiber and fixed-wireless internet across Southwest Florida.
Hosting: the same logic applies
It isn't just internet. When it's time to host your website, email or a server, shopping local pays off the same way — real people who answer the phone, who manage the infrastructure, and who have a stake in your success. Splash Page Hosting is the managed hosting arm of On-Ramp Indiana: the local, fully-managed alternative to faceless hosting giants, with your site, email and servers run by a US-based team you can actually reach.
Shop local for your internet — and shop local for your hosting, too.
Quick answers
Should I get Starlink or a local internet provider?
Save satellite like Starlink for where it's genuinely the only reliable option. Where a local fiber or fixed-wireless provider reaches you, they usually beat satellite on latency and support — and your money stays in your community. Check the WISPA 'Find a WISP' directory or the FCC Broadband Map before buying a dish.
How do I find local internet providers at my address?
Use the WISPA 'Find a WISP' directory, the FCC Broadband Map, or search your county plus 'internet providers.' In central Indiana, On-Ramp Indiana offers local fiber and fixed-wireless; in Southwest Florida, ETHX does.
Why choose a local host over a big hosting company?
The same reasons as local internet: real US-based people who answer the phone and manage the servers, lower risk, and support with a stake in your success. Splash Page Hosting is the local, managed alternative to faceless hosting giants.
